The Piano Man
During a period of great social change for many suffering
with distinct handicaps and mental defects they find themselves lowered on the list
of priority issues for the government and the resulting solution being to construct
several special needs facilities. Our protagonist finds himself attending such an
institution for the socially inept and physically impaired at the behest of his
parents having suffered from an undeveloped lack of verbal communication
surprises the institution and his peers with a powerful form of artistic
communication none had expected him to demonstrate after expressing a great
desire to engage in the use of the piano the staff of the institution permit
this adventure expecting his lack of verbal communication to have impeded his
learning meaning he would have no grasp of the use of such a complex instrument
were ultimately shocked to discover his talent for communicating his emotions
through the medium of music.
